Japanese awardee of the German Innovation Award participates in science policy talk with Chancellor Angela Merkel

German chancellor Angela Merkel visited Miraikan, a museum on future technologies in Tokyo on March 9 as part of a two-day stay in Japan.

There she was greeted by the humanoid robot Asimo as well as the museum’s director and astronaut Mamoru Mori before meeting a number of leading Japanese scientists including Dr. Taiga Yamaya, Team Leader of the Imaging Physics Team at the Molecular Imaging Center, National Institute of Radiological Sciences as well as awardee of the German-Innovation-Award 2012. The meeting focussed on scientific cooperation between Germany and Japan and ways of enhancing mobility of students and researchers between both countries.
