Lecture by Professor Dr. Horst Hippler

On April 12th, 2012 Prof. Dr. Horst Hippler, president of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), held a lecture about energy research as part of a seminar that was jointly organized by the German Research and Innovation Forum Tokyo and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan.

Following the title "The Times They Are A-Changin'!? - A Summary and Outlook of the Energy Research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)" Prof. Hippler presented current research activities of the KIT in the field of energy research and gave an outlook on the future power supply in Germany.

He pointed out the importance of being active in as much fields as possible - storing, generating and saving energy. About 1.200 scientists are currently engaged in energy research, the basics as well as the implementation.

He also mentioned German-Japanese co-operations like the HeKKSaGOn University Consortium, for which a meeting was held in Kyoto a few days prior to this seminar, where all participating universities agreed on promoting future collaborations and research projects.

After the lecture was finished all of the 40 participants from industry, academia and politics had the opportunity of interchanging at a gathering.
